The SINE WAVE ORCHESTRA: Ken Furudate, Kazuhiro Jo, Daisuke Ishida, Mizuki Noguchi
audiovisual installation, 2017

Ever faster consumption of media, blurred sounds and images that are unintelligible to the eyes and ears

Indistinct images projected onto a large screen, inarticulate sounds reverberating across the exhibition space. All of these are created by disassembling and recomposing algorithmically in real-time from a vast amount of video materials picked up randomly from the internet. The fragmented videos that provide the visual and acoustic source material are recomposed and reordered based on their respective data of luminance and sound to create a sine wave.

The SINE WAVE ORCHESTRA (Ken Furudate, Kazuhiro Jo, Daisuke Ishida, Mizuki Noguchi) is a project that works exclusively with sine waves that was launched in 2002. The group works between and within performances, installations and workshops and invites the public to create a collective sound representation.
